At Mahekal all employees are equally important, we all share the same philosophy; we are connected with the local heritage, practicing on a daily basis our company values such as: make it happen, love nature, be as kind as possible.

As it relates to romance travel, what unique value proposition(s) set your brand apart from the competition?
There is simply no better magical setting for a flawless wedding in Playa del Carmen than the turquoise waters, the sparkling white sand, and the lush tropical gardens of Mahekal Beach Resort. We only do one wedding per day to guarantee the absolute attention of each staff member, to make dreams come true.

Can you share a success story (with WOW factors) when working with travel advisors?
Close relationships with our travel advisors, focusing on details, and going beyond are key to success and in the end, will make the difference. We got a reservation from a travel agent advising that she will be traveling with her husband, without further details. We found out that they will be celebrating their anniversary and her husband's birthday. We organized a lot of details for their stay they were not expecting like a "Bienvenidos" sign at the beach made with river rocks, and flowers. On their anniversary day, we offered them dinner with their personal favorite dishes, and of course, on his birthday, we celebrate him with his favorite cake. They are coming back ever since and this year it is their 10th stay at Mahekal in the last 5 years.

The travel industry is forever evolving. What are some of the trends you're seeing, and what initiatives is your brand developing to support travel sellers grow their business?
At Mahekal Beach Resort we are committed to supporting our business partners if our mutual clients need to move their dates or cancel, we are flexible.

What are your traditional commission structures?
We do offer 10% of the wedding package net price and 15% of the net room rates, all before taxes, commissions are paid after the group’s departure and master bills are set.

Why should travel advisors work with your brand?

Currently RFP on the hotel website. New dedicated travel advisors page on the website (ready end of Q3, 2022) including all wedding-related information, HD photos, logos, etc, etc,…

When communicating with your company, what can travel advisors expect (ie turnaround time, dedicated point person, etc.)?
We are confident that we will assist you with every detail to ensure easy back and forth communication (answer within less than 24 business hours), and personalized and dedicated sales expert guidance. Same contact throughout the entire process.

How and where can travel advisors book or get support when selling your product?
By reaching out to our romance travel experts on-site, always happy to answer all your requests by email, phone, and conference call to ensure a smooth process. Offering all the possible options to exceed your expectations.

In light of Covid19 still being a part of our day-to-day operations, are there protocols you think are essential for travel advisors to be aware of when booking your brand?
We have worked closely with the hospitality industry, and government officials, to implement exhaustive Health and Safety protocols so that our guests always feel at ease, and our resort team has a safe workplace. For detailed information visit:
